Healthy and indulgent vegan snack bar packaging and branding
Love Vegan want to become the healthy lifestyle brand of choice for vegan snacks. They are ethical, wholesome and 100% plant based. “Saving the planet one bite at a time” says Jennifer, the brand owner and creator.
Adopting a Vegan diet and being health conscious is a very personal choice. It doesn’t mean snacking cannot taste great. But before people could try the bars, Jennifer needed a brand that could stand out from the crowd. One that would grab attention on the shelves, in what is becoming a very competitive market.
We chose BLU:72 Creative as our design partner having worked with them on a previous project. We were impressed with the standard of work produced.

Our journey
First, we listed all of Jennifer’s likes, dislikes, and ideas. This helped us shape the design brief. One idea stood out: using a mandala. Jennifer is very spiritual and training to be a Reiki Master, so the mandala felt meaningful to her. Soon, this became a major part of the brand.
Next, we studied snack bar packaging and created early design concepts. At that stage, the brand had a different name. The team liked the designs; however, they wanted a clearer link to veganism. We had already drawn several heart-shaped logo ideas. Because of this, the name “Love Vegan” came naturally. Adding “by Jennifer” in a signature-style font made the brand feel warm and personal.
After that came the colour combinations. Like a lot of other snack bar packaging we chose to go with a consistent design, but with a colour change for each flavour.
Client feedback
This project was very specific and we needed to be totally confident we had chosen the right design team. Due diligence of their overall design portfolio was required. We had to ensure they had the skill set to design a food brand that would be appropriate for the healthy snacking market.
We are pleased to say BLU:72 exceeded our expectations. The process was seamless from start to finish and the creative input that aligned to our own vision was just superb. We are delighted with all aspects of the work and the customer service and ownership of the project was excellent.

Packaging, display, and marketing
Once all four bars were ready, each flavour needed its own Shelf Ready Packaging (SRP) and a three-bar multipack. The box opens and folds back to create a simple display unit. It can go straight on a shelf with no extra work. We also made trade ads, pull-up banners, and website graphics.
Initial results
Love Vegan first launched in farm shops in the East Midlands. Soon after, the brand expanded into more than 500 ASDA stores. It later moved into BP stations, Nuffield Health venues, Co-Op, and The Health Store.
Post-launch growth
The team didn’t stop at the first four bars. They added three more flavours, creating a set of seven bars known as “The Magnificent Seven.” This offered a healthy vegan snack for each day of the week.
Protein bars
Love Vegan then introduced a Protein Bar range. We created new designs to give these bars their own identity while still fitting into the overall brand family.
Sharing is caring
They had the seven bars with a variety of flavours, plus the protein bars. They now wanted to create a snack that was perfect for sharing. With the flavours already sorted and well liked by customers, they decided to create a set of pouches that could be resealed. With the logo already containing a heart shape, we suggested cutting the snack bites in to small heart shapes and the sharing packs were born.
Love Chocolate
The pièce de résistance came in the form of the original bars covered in delicious dark vegan chocolate.
Yet again our graphic design services were required. We decided to use the current branding, but extend it to include the chocolate covered variety. A total redesign wasn’t required, but the wrappers did have to look slightly different.
We only needed to present a few ideas for this as the concept of still using the main logo, but emphasising the heart graphic was agreed early on. We removed the mandala to keep that distinctive for the regular bars and expanded the colour to fill the front of the wrappers. The design was finished off by using the secondary script font for the main typography.
Again we needed to create the designs for the SRPs which also needed to be slightly different to the original bars. Below you can see the final design as well as the cutter guide that we send off to the printers.
