We love film poster design at BLU:72 and we love Star Wars, bring them together and boom, instant awesome! This brand new artwork for the Star Wars Celebration poster has just been released and it seems to show a lot of things we are already familiar with.

We’re not sure who the artist is yet, but it’s reminiscent of Drew Struzan‘s work and also the heavier brush strokes of the original 70s poster. We love it and it’s going straight on my mac as a desktop wallpaper! The composition of all the characters is in the classic Star Wars style and really whets the appetite for what reveals or trailers will come out of the event.

It’s the first time Luke Skywalker has featured on any marketing since the Force Awakens was announced (Spoiler!! he makes an appearance at the end of the film… but you knew that right?). It also combines the cast from Rogue One and showcases some new ‘troopers’, there’s the brand new shore trooper at the bottom left as well as the black-armoured death trooper. There’s a new style AT-AT called an AT-ACT and a closer look at Ben Mendelsohn’s character ‘Director Krennic’ (who lots of people thought might be Thrawn).

With Star Wars owners Disney pulling away from the San Diego Comic Con more and more, the Celebration event is set to be huge. The poster doesn’t promote just one particular aspect of Star Wars, but the event as a whole and seems to be hinting at reveals that might include an Episode 8 trailer and possibly a second Rogue One trailer… we can’t wait!

Star Wars Celebration will be held July 15-17 in London, at the the ExCel.
